After the nation wide concern on the increase of mobile phone snatching crimes, Government of Pakistan is introducing a new system to block the usage of stolen cellular handsets from 30th September 2006. The system will block the IMEI (International Equipment Identity Number) which is a unique number for any working cellular handset and can be determined by typing *#06# on the cellular handset. EIR (Equipment identity register) has been installed at the mobile phone companies which can block IMEI after the crime has been reported.
How to report?
1)Make ready to provide your name, national ID card number, address, contact phone number, stolen cell phone number and its IMEI.
2)Call PTA ( Pakistan Telecommunication Authority )on the freephone 080025625.
3) Contact CPLC ( Citizen Police Liaison Committee ) on 021 5682222 or file an online complaint at http://www.cplc.org.pk/imei_form.php .
Your stolen mobile phone may not be blocked if you are not the legal owner of its SIM card.

No doubt its a very nice step but.......!!
Still As a Pakistani we need a system that must be free of curropttion.
We have Anti-curroption department that one is also no free from curroption.
We have NAB.....we have courts.....But we need those people that make easy justice for People of Pakistan.
Mobiles milney k baad kitney logoN ko wapas milaiN gey...aur ek shaf-faf kavish k bawajood kitney mobile holder mehroom rahaiN gey....iss k liey koi planning kaam nahi kar sakti .....jab tak ham maiN sey her shakhs IMANDARI ko apna sha'aar nahi bana leta.
Thanks for sharing Irfan bhai.
