Panic spread over a hoax suicide bomber on Sunday at a press conference addressed by the workers of Zarrai Taraqqiati Bank in Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club. Witnesses say that a man entered the news conference and announced that he will trigger the bomb. A few journalists recieved minor injuries due to this scare. Sahafionline.com has learned that the man is now in the custody of Islamabad police and it has been said that he is suffering from mental illness.

There is always the risk that Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club would be the target of genuine or false terrorist threats. Subsequent evacuation of its building in such a panic can also endanger human life. Sahafionline.com hopes that administration of Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club would take more security measurements to avoid an incedent like this. We recommend these steps:

1) Use surveillance technology like CCTV and hire CCTV operators who can monitor the Press Club's building. CCTV technology is cheap nowdays but if hiring CCTV operators is not possible due to the tight budget, then , atleast put the notice on the walls of the press club that CCTV camera is operating in this building. This will turn many crazy people away from the building.
2) Publish a leaflet "How to respond to a terrorist threat in Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club's building" and distribute it to all the members of the press club.
3) Make visitor badges and give it to visitors who go in the press club building. Do not let unauthorized visitor access in the building. The visitor will have to give the badge back when leaving the building.

I would request Mr Mushtaq Minhas , President Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club to comment on this thread.
